Metamizole Sodium Injection is a non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic with the following pharmacological effects:
Antipyretic: Rapidly reduces high fever by acting on the hypothalamic thermoregulatory center.
Analgesic: Effectively relieves pain (e.g., headache, muscle pain, joint pain, dysmenorrhea) by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis.
Anti-inflammatory: Exhibits moderate anti-rheumatic effects, but its use in rheumatic diseases is limited due to potential severe side effects157.
Adults:
Deep intramuscular injection: 0.25-0.5 g per dose.
Maximum single dose: Do not exceed 0.5 g.
Children:
Dosage by weight: 5-10 mg/kg per dose (8-10 mg/kg recommended for safety)159.
Precautions:
Avoid intra-articular or acupoint injection (may cause muscle atrophy or joint dysfunction)37.
Do not mix with other drugs in the same syringe5.
Unopened vials/ampoules: Store protected from light in a cool, dry place (2-8°C recommended if refrigerated).
After opening: Use immediately (discard unused portions).
